Public Health and Genomics (PHaG) Laboratory
The mission of Public Health and Genomics (PHaG) Laboratory is to improve people’s life through research driven learning and engaging communities in understanding the ways and methods of adopting healthy lifestyle and overall wellbeing. Our area of research is to determine the burden of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) and its risk factors in Indian population. We are also pursuing research in determining social epidemiological factors influencing disease pathophysiology in rural Indian setting. Currently, we are focusing on life-course epidemiological research by developing a birth cohort in Rajasthan, i.e. "Gestational Route to Healthy Birth" (GaRBH cohort), using longitudinal study design.

PHaG’s Teaching and Training Activities:
Our research driven expertise and continuous efforts in non-communicable chronic diseases has lead to the introduction of Public Health and Epidemiology papers in B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil. courses in Anthropology. This laboratory is actively involved in providing quality training and teaching exercises to the students of the Department (especially, the art of fieldwork, high quality data collection, bioethics, research methodology, and biostatistics).

PHaG laboratory has already produced 5 doctoral students. Currently, 6 Ph.D. and 1 M.Phil. students are actively involved in their respective research works related to following complex diseases or traits:
